A wedding lasts a day. Matthew Laraway Wedding photos & films last forever. That’s my company ethos — capturing moments that last, and can be cherished, for many lifetimes to come.
I would describe my style and approach as relaxed, professional and naturalistic. My finished photos & videos are very romantic, cinematic pieces of work, but I take a very relaxed, unobtrusive approach to photography & filming and only stage key moments throughout the day. Everything else, is captured in the moment.
My main sources of inspiration are the fairytale visuals of Hollywood films, specifically Disney. I’m a contemporary filmmaker and hopeless romantic, therefore the wedding industry is a match made in heaven.
I studied Media and Moving Image Arts at college. Film & TV Production at university. After graduation, I spent a summer interning as a video/ editing in NYC, before returning to the UK in 2011, where I set up my first video production company — Laramedia — which specialises in branded and promotional video work. It is through Laramedia that I have gained the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to become a wedding filmmaker, and over the last few years I have established Matthew Laraway Weddings.
I’m partially deaf, Losing one sense, makes my other senses stronger — like a superhero. On the right occasion, in the right light, I can lip read, which is handy for finding out which bridesmaids fancy me! haha, My impairment has also made me an incredibly visual thinker and if the music isn’t great, it’s pretty awesome being able to tune out. Just turn my hearing off! haha. Complications arise, ensue, and are overcome. That’s my jam.
Since then I have travel the world and I love it, it’s my freedom. Wake up in the sunshine with a lovely local espresso! Go and explore. Then follow by pizza and wine in the evening! It’s a win win! I love what I do! I get to be part of your wedding day! I can’t complain for free wedding cakes! Always scoffing them on the way home. So that me! If you like to know anything else. You know what to do.
